1955 AEC Regent RT36-FXT211
The last of the pre-war 2RT2’s were withdrawn from passenger service on May 31st 1955. Most of them stayed with London Transport as driver training or staff transport vehicles. However, on Country Bus Route 327, which was operated out of Hertford garage, there was a bridge at Broxbourne which had a weight-carrying restriction which would not allow a standard post-war RT3 with a full load of passengers to cross over it. In the absence of any suitable STL’s,RT36 was one of only seven 2RT2’s to be re-painted in the green and cream livery of the Country Area and to re-enter passenger service on June 1st 1955 , where it stayed until August 31st 1957 before final withdrawal when the bridge had been strengthened. This model replicates RT36 during its operation on 327.
